EU: Commissie publiceert studie over impact van REACH

23 januari 2018

The European Commission published a study report carried out by an external team of consultants. The study on the impacts of REACH authorisation indicates that the system is achieving its objectives. The authorisation system is progressively promoting substitution of substances of very high concern (SVHCs) by available alternatives and reducing risks associated with the use of SVHCs.
The main benefits of authorisation: (1) REACH is one of the main drivers for substitution of SVHCs, from as early as the candidate listing stage; (2) Companies are improving risk management measures and operating conditions when substitution of SVHCs is not possible (ECHA, 12 december 2017).
