Zakken voor voedingsmiddelen gebaseerd op thermoplastische maiszetmeel met talk nanodeeltjes

06 juni 2014

Researchers at the Universidad Nacional del Sur (UNS) in Argentina developed packaging bags from thermo-compressed films of thermoplastic corn starch containing talc nanoparticles. Mechanical properties of the films were studied revealing starch films reinforcement by talc addition.
Strength improvement of thermoplastic starch films with talc concentration was reflected and water vapor and oxygen permeability were reduced 54 and 26%, respectively. Usually, bags based on starch films could be only opened by tearing while those of starch-talc bionanocomposites could be torn or peeled off. An article about the research is published in Food Hydrocolloids.
