NZ: Vrijwillig sterren-etiketteringssysteem wordt geïmplementeerd

08 september 2014

New Zealand’s Minister of Food Safety has announced that the government will join Australia’s voluntary front of pack star rating labelling system. This rating system has a range from ½ to 5 stars and is supposed to help consumers make healthy food choices.
The number of stars, calculated by an algorithm, correspond to the product’s overall nutritional value. More stars indicate a better nutritional value. Based on consumer research it is proven that the overall nutritional rating will allow shoppers to compare and choose healthier products from within a range, encouraging companies to change their products to be healthier (Foodsafety NZ Nieuwsbericht, 27 juni 2014).
