US: Vermeld hormoonontregelende stoffen op verpakt voedsel

03 juli 2017

On June 15, the Maine House of Representatives approved an amended version of HP 819. The bill would require food manufacturers to disclose the presence of ortho-phthalates, including DEHP, DBP, BBP, and DEP. Manufacturers would report to the Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry on the “amount of each ortho-phthalate detected in each unit of the food product” and its intended purpose. The reporting requirement would not apply to beverages/beverage containers.
The bill still needs approval by the Senate and Governor LePage. A potential obstacle for the bill is Republican Governor Paul LePage who has already vetoed environmental bills (State Recycling Laws Update, 19 juni 2017).
