Corona ontlading plasma jet desinfecteert voedselverpakking

24 mei 2017

Researchers at Gachon University in South Korea studied the potentiality of corona discharge plasma jet (CDPJ) for the disinfection of food packaging materials, including glass, polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), nylon and paper foil. Corona discharge plasma jet was generated using a high voltage (20 kV) pulsed DC power source, at 1.5 A current and 58 kHz frequency.
They found that the most common food packaging materials harboring bacterial pathogens could be disinfected by the corona discharge plasma jet without compromising the physicomechanical properties of the materials. An article about the research is published in Packaging Technology and Science.
