VS: Nieuwe regelgeving geïntroduceerd die fabrikanten verplicht meer gerecycled materiaal te gebruiken

08 september 2014

On 30 July 2014 Congressman Mike Honda introduced the Land Based Marine Debris Reduction Act of 2014 (H.R. 5283). This bill focuses on increasing the national recycling rate by authorizing the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to evaluate and categorize products and, where necessary, require an increase in the amount of recycled materials used in new products or packaging.
80% of Marine debris comes from land-based sources. Most of this occurs as a result of improperly disposed-of materials (litter). Under this bill, the EPA would identify ways that trash is entering the environment and offer best practices in how to deal with these leakages (Persbericht Mike Honda, 1 augustus 2014).
