VS EPA: geen initiatief regels tegen gebruik PVC en ftalaten

02 december 2014

The Center for Biological Diversity (CBD) petitioned the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to consider rulemaking under the Toxic Substances Control Act to “address risks related to polyvinyl chloride (PVC), vinyl chloride, and phthalates used as plasticizers.”
On October 31 the EPA decided not to proceed with rulemaking “due to a lack of specificity regarding the particular action requested” and “on other grounds.” It said CBD, among other things, set forth sufficient facts to establish that the disposal of PVC, vinyl chloride, or phthalates used as plasticizers presents or will present an unreasonable risk (State Recycling Laws Update, 7 november 2014).
