VS: Chico volgende stad in California die verstrekken eenmalige kunststof draagstassen verbiedt

17 juni 2014

On May 20, 2014, the City Council of Chico, California, a city of about 87,000 residents and located north of Sacramento, approved an ordinance banning the retail distribution of single-use plastic bags and requiring a 10-cent fee for each recyclable paper bag distributed. Affected retailers must also make available reusable bags for purchase. The ordinance requires that recyclable plastic bags must contain a minimum of 40% post-consumer content and be 100% recyclable.
The requirements take effect for larger retailers on January 1, 2015. Convenience food stores are covered by the ordinance starting January 1, 2016 (Recycling Laws Update, 26 mei 2014).
