US: FDA breidt autoriteit uit naar alle tabaksproducten

12 juli 2016

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has finalized a rule that extends its regulatory authority to all tobacco products, including e-cigarettes, cigars, and hookah and pipe tobacco. In a Consumer Update the FDA confirms the rule’s timeline and answers questions about e-cigarettes and other issues.
The FDA has regulated cigarettes, cigarette tobacco, roll-your-own tobacco, and smokeless tobacco products since June 2009, after Congress passed and the President signed the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act. This Act gave the agency authority to regulate the manufacturing, distribution, and marketing of tobacco products. It requires health warnings on tobacco products.
