Indonesië overweegt nieuwe etiketteringswetgeving voor alcoholische dranken

10 september 2014

To warn consumers about the dangers of consuming alcoholic drinks, such as health complains and criminal behaviour, the Indonesian Deputy Trade Minister Bayu Krisnamurthi confirmed that a new regulation on labelling of alcoholic beverages has been drafted and is currently under preparation. A specific time frame has not been set as the government wants to talk to stakeholders first.
The new regulation that would comply with global trade rules issued by the World Trade Organization (WTO), would apply to liquor with an alcohol content of 20 percent or above. The use of plain packaging and the placement of graphic warnings would be a consequence for the packaging. (Jakarta Post, 5 juli 2014).
