EU: Chemie essentieel voor circulaire economie en toekomst

At the end of 2015, the European Commission adopted a package of measures to stimulate Europe’s transition towards a circular economy to boosting global competitiveness, foster sustainable economic growth and generate new jobs. Achieving the goals of a circular economy, which relies heavily on greater recycling and reuse, will reduce the strain on natural resources and reduce the EU’s dependency on natural resource imports. Bjørn Hansen , Hansen, Head of Unit of Sustainable Chemicals in the Directorate-General for Environment from the European Commission, explains why the legislation on chemicals plays such an important role in a circular economy (ECHA Nieuwsbrief, september 2016).
