DK EPA rapport: producten met probleemchemicaliën recyclen

29 april 2016

The Danish Ministry of Environment published a report that examined how problematic chemicals in outdoor clothing and in plastics used in electronic equipment may pose health threats to recycling workers or the environment and whether the chemicals may contaminate recycled products. The primary chemicals of concern in textiles are perfluorinated substances (used for water resistance) and in EEE are brominated flame retardants.
The report also contains similar information on chemical challenges in seven other recycled product categories: furnishing fabrics, carpets, mercury-containing lamps, leather good, wooden furniture and vinyl flooring (Recycling Laws International, 5 april 2016).
