Chitosan zilver en goud nanocomposiet folie als verpakkingsmateriaal

Researchers at the National Research Center in Egypt synthesized Chitosan-silver and Chitosan-gold nanocomposite films by a simple chemical method. A local bacterial isolate was found to be capable to synthesize both silver and gold nanoparticles.
The antibacterial activity of the prepared films was evaluated against gram positive (Staphylococcus aureus) and gram negative bacteria (Pseudomonas aerugenosa), fungi (Aspergillus niger) and yeast (Candida albicans). Therefore, these materials can potentially be used as antimicrobial agents in packaging applications. An article about the research is published in the International Journal of Biological Macromolecules.
