California OEHHA: zet PFOA en PFOS op Proposition 65 Lijst

01 november 2016

Two common surfactant chemicals - perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) - soon may be added to California's Proposition 65 (Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986) List, according to an announcement in September 2016 by the Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA).
The two chemicals are used in products ranging from clothing and textiles to some types of paper food packaging and non-stick cookware. If added to the Proposition 65 list, manufacturers that use PFOA and PFOS in their products will need to provide warnings to consumers about the presence of the chemicals (State Recycling Laws Update, 30 september 2016).
