AU: Meer steun van rokers voor standaardverpakkingen

12 november 2014

Smokers’ support for plain packaging of tobacco products rose sharply after they were introduced in Australia, according to a study performed by researchers at the Cancer Council Victoria (CCV) in Australia. Analysis of the results showed that support for plain packs increased significantly after they were implemented, rising from 28.2% pre implementation to 49% afterwards. This meant that after introduction, more smokers (49%) were supportive of them than were opposed (34.7%).
Plain packaging for tobacco products was fully implemented in Australia on 1 December 2012 along with larger graphic health warnings. An article about the research is published in Tobacco Control (Persbericht CCV).
