US EPA wil gebruik Tolueen Diisocyanaten (TDI) beperken

23 januari 2015

According to the EPA, more than 100 million pounds of TDI are manufactured, used or imported into the United States each year. The group of chemicals is used in coatings, elastomers, adhesives, and sealants and in the manufacture of polyurethane.
Recently a draft Significant New Use Rule (SNUR) for TDI was released by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Once the final SNUR is published, manufacturers and importers who plan to use TDI in consumer products in levels above 0.1% by weight, would need to inform the EPA 90 days in advance. The EPA could prohibit or limit the planned use under the under the Toxic Substances Control Act (State Recycling Laws Update, 16 januari 2015).
