SE: EPA steunt uitfaseren BPA in voedselcontactmaterialen

02 november 2015

In September the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) published a formal opinion that bisphenol A (BPA) should be phased out from use in food contact materials such as packaging and in thermal paper common used for receipts.
The Swedish EPA also said that other bisphenols should not be used as substitutes for BPA because they “may have similar [endocrine disrupting] effects” and have not been adequately studied. In its opinion, the Swedish EPA states that it does not plan to propose independent Swedish regulations but will work with the European Commission to implement EU-wide restrictions, which could be approved in 2017 (Recycling Laws International, 26 oktober 2015).
