EU: Verbeterde carbon footprint papier en papieren zakken

Between 2007 and 2012, the European kraft paper and paper sack industry significantly improved its carbon footprint. This is the conclusion reached by a recent study conducted by the Swedish research institute Innventia on behalf of EUROSAC and CEPI Eurokraft.
The carbon intensity of producing one tonne of average European kraft paper was optimized by 17%. The emissions during kraft paper production account for 60% of the total carbon footprint for each individual paper sack. During the subsequent stages of production from the cradle to the factory gate, the CO2 emissions per paper sack saw an improvement of 16% (Persbericht EUROSAC en CEPI Eurokraft, 16 juli 2015).
