Advies SCENIHR veiligheid van BPA in medische hulpmiddelen

03 maart 2015

The European Commission and its non-food Scientific Committee on Emerging and Newly Identified Health Risks (SCENIHR) have published the final opinion on “The safety of the use of bisphenol A in medical devices”. Concern for the safety of vulnerable groups when exposed to bisphenol A (BPA) through medical devices, like implants, catheters, and most dental devices, have recently been raised.
This opinion aims to assess whether the use of BPA in these devices could give reasons for safety concerns, to provide indications on limit values for BPA release from medical devices and to identify any patient group who would be particularly at risk (E-news DG Health and Food Safety, 27 februari 2015).
