Steun voor diftar afvalsystemen neemt toe als mensen van het system gebruik maken

30 juni 2014

Public support for pay-as-you-throw (PAYT) waste schemes is significantly higher among those who have actually experienced them, finds research by North Carolina State University, USA. The study indicates that there is less resistance to such schemes, which charge householders a fee that varies with the amount of waste collected, once they have been introduced.
For the study 4 countries with sufficiently widespread mixed residential waste PAYT schemes (Canada, NL, Sweden and Switzerland) were selected for analysis, covering over 3 500 households. An article about the research is published in Environmental Science & Policy (Science for Environment Policy, 5 juni 2014).
