NVC Meeting World standards on sustainable innovation in packaging
The world (ISO) standards for sustainable innovation in packaging are on their way and NVC plays an active role in their development. NVC managing director Michaël Nieuwesteeg is convenor of the working group addressing the worldwide prevention standard, including heavy metals and other noxious and hazardous substances. Four other global working groups each address a specific form of recycling/recovery. These working groups are also actively monitored by NVC.
NVC finds it important to receive input from companies that have to deal with these standards. Together we can then try to develop standards that meet our needs and, on the other side, prevent demands being included that may hamper the free international flow of packaged goods and packages. Therefore NVC members interested in actively participating in the development of these standards are invited to join the NVC mirror group.
The first meeting of the NVC mirror group took place on the 29th of April. A number of NVC members joined forces to discuss what sustainable innovation in packaging is and how this is implemented in their companies. The goal was to give Michaël some input to take with him to China, where the ISO meeting took place from May 31st to June 4th.
The second meeting of the NVC mirror group will take place on September 9th. During this meeting Michaël will give the participants a summary of the meeting in China. We will then discuss the next steps to take so that Michaël can take the insights with him to the next ISO meeting which is planned in October.
