Onderzoek: Ontwikkeling van nieuwe actieve verpakkingsfolies die bioactieve nanocomposieten bevatten

18 september 2014

Researchers at the University of Santiago de Compostela in Spain developed active packaging films with a natural extract obtained from a brewery waste and functionalized nanoclays. The developed films showed the capacity to enhance the oxidative stability of beef during refrigeration with respect to control films.
The use of functionalized nanoclays improved the effectiveness of the active packaging. The use of these active packaging films containing bioactive compounds with both antioxidant and antimicrobial properties could extend the shelf life of minimally processed meat products. An article about the research is published in Innovative Food Science & Emerging Technologies.
